 The dance performance!

Reflection
Today I discovered …
Aramona – Jack discovered how to use music on YouTube
Ryan – Marc discovered how to make a cinema
Kimberley – Akaisha discovered that when everyone is shouting it isn’t successful
Cohen – Kaiden discovered not to throw the ball so hard
Trin – George discovered building things
Zoe – Paige discovered some new dance moves

The most difficult thing was …
Alicia – Thomas H found catching and throwing the ball from the third line difficult
George – Liam’s difficult thing was putting a play together. People weren’t sharing the space and resources
Liam W – Jessie had made a square of blocks and then had to work out how to put blocks in the middle

Today I was successful because …
Sam – Jonathan was successful that he made progress on his list
Olly – Ryan was successful using the rebound net, especially catching
Bradley – Alicia was successful in the dance by learning new moves
Bronson – Cohen was successful by helping Marc with the play

Maybe we should have thought more about sharing when creating plays. Is it harder to share when we need to share space?

Collaborating with Nature on PhotoPeach
Reflections
What did you learn today?
Adelle learnt that some leaves are made up out of tiny bits
Zac learnt how to do the art things –
Trin learnt jump jam, he had to do lots of thinking about dancing.
Lots of people found it hard to think about using their feet and hands at the same time.
Tara – Jade learnt that you could made big trees out of little branches.
Thomas H – Ryan learned not to hurt his fingers with the hammer
Thomas H learned that if you change the light by flicking the switch the thing looked quite differently
Jonathan found that the bigger the cone, that louder the noise was.
Jack learnt through the clip that we human ears can listen between 20 – 20,00 hurtz
Kimberley learned that if you put a third cone on the string it still works

Who helped you today? And how did they help?
George - Zac helped Thomas with some wood to put something together.
Nobody helped George today.
Bradley – Jack helped me make a bike ramp, by nailing the nails in because every time I did it, I hit my fingers.
Alicia had lots of girls helping you with jump jam. Paige said the man on the DVD helped too.
William - Ms Edmond helped me bang in a nail on my army tank
Jessie had a lot of people helping her test her balance board.  It started off as a seesaw but it was made too close to the ground. People tried to get even balances, how many people, matching weights to keep it even by adding on different people. Aramona found that he was heavier than Legend.

What the hardest thing for you to do today?
Nathan – Ben found it hard trapping his spiders on his piece of paper. Nathan found making his wooden chair done because people were rushing him.
Kristen – Jack found jump jam was the hardest
Kristen found the hiphop hard
Zoe – Lucy’s hardest thing was figuring out what to make out in the woodwork area. Zoe found jump jam hard, especially the moves.
William found banging in nails hard to do.

This week the Key Compentency we are focusing on is ...

Managing Self
  • Taking care of resources
  • You are able to do something without asking someone else to do it for you
  • Making sure everything is set up
  • If you think you are doing something wrong, don’t do it
  • Mind your own business
  • Say ‘no’ when it is not a good choice
  • Clean up after yourself
  • Have a goal
  • Making sure things stay where they belong

Discovery Term 2, Week 4 on PhotoPeach

Reflections

What was your goal today?
Zac’s goal was to get the ball into the cup 20 times.
Thomas’s goal was to make a turtle.
Cohen’s goal was not be scared in the Virtual Reality.
Lucy’s goal was to stay at one activity and use different accents for characters.

Did you achieve your goal? Why/why not?
Kristen did meet her goal. She stayed at one station and made a mouse. She had to be patient when things got difficult. Kristen felt like giving up, but stuck to what she started because it was quieter.
Jack didn’t achieve his goal because he didn’t want to get ‘in’ while playing the ball game. He needs to practice dodging skills.
Legend didn’t achieve his goal of making up a PE game. It wasn’t fun, so he left and gave up.
Thomas H didn’t achieve his goal to make a turtle. It looked more like a pig, so he modified his goal to still complete the activity.

How will you improve your managing-self next week?
Liam would work harder on making a new game rather than playing a game that we already know.
Legend needs to think about the other people around him.
Liam B would like to do more science and learn more.
Adelle learnt not to run in high heels.
Jack wants to work on staying in one place and sticking with it.

How did you react/cope with the exciting activity?
Akaisha coped by asking if she could join in.
Bradley said it was so noisy because they were excited and having so much fun. Paige added that we could be a bit quieter. Liam suggested we need to think about our voice level (inside voices).
Tara said that people were running inside. People need to stop and think.

What was difficult?
Thomas F found that waiting for the paint to dry on the egg cartons was difficult.
Marc found it difficult to find the right clothes for his character.
Liam found it difficult to do the leaf rubbing.
Zachary found it difficult to wait for a go with the Virtual Reality (because he was last).

Lucy suggested helping people if they are stuck on something.
Kristen said it would look like working with other people. You may help by organising.
Thomas H said that he could help by giving suggestions. Giving them ideas on what they could use.
Bronson said this would look like being friendly by making sure you don’t hurt them.
Akaisha talked about using our forgiveness.
Kimberley suggested you could ask if someone needs help.

… and Contributing
Bradley said it would look like helping others. Giving them encouragement or a suggestion.

Bronson said helping them by reminding them about being safe.

This is how we demonstrated this ...

Discovery Term 2 Week 3 on PhotoPeach
Reflection
Something I am proud of
Woodwork
Bronson: Me and mum made a chair.
Marc made a spaceship.
Jack made a ‘T’ but he got bored.
Liam made a landing thing for planes on the sea. Nathan helped.
Deconstruction/Reconstruction
Akaisha and William made a radio station.
Zac and Olly made a city scape which Spiderman has been around.
Ryan made a shed and car. Thomas F helped.
Kaiden made a thing with stuff on it.
Cohen made a city.
Thomas H made his name using computer parts.
Kristen made a picture frame.
Bronson made a BIG robot. Mum helped
Something I noticed others doing while participating and contributing. What did they do?
Akaisha said William helped her with construction and woodwork.
Marc – Thomas saw Olly give Bronson a turn with the hot glue gun.
Bronson – Zac was being a good friend to me. He was sitting next to me and we shared colours.
Lucy – I saw Kimberley organising the group when some were being a bit disruption.
Zac – I saw Marc and Liam measuring wood together. They were building separate things, but helping each other.
Something I would like to improve on next week
Kimberley would like to include other people in their play to make it more challenging.
Akaisha would like to plan in her head, before creating.
Lima B would like to finish his woodwork and not move around everywhere. Complete work in first half then move into deconstruction, because he hasn’t done that yet.
Jack needs to improve staying on one set thing because he doesn’t complete anything.
Marc could challenge himself by going to a different activity.

Zac - being more protective when doing woodwork and trying not to hurt himself.

Also as part of Discovery this week some children wrote their own plays. These were performed to the school on Monday morning. The challenge that they were faced was adapting their scripts to include others which joined in later. Well done to you all, you certainly demonstrated participating and contributing.

Reflection

What did you discover today?
Zoe discovered that there were lots of screws in the computers.
Adelle discovered that there are lots of different kinds of wires in computers.
Olly discovered there’s lots of strange stuff inside a computer.
Who did you share your ideas with?
Jack shared ideas with Sam. Jack shared ideas on how to build stuff. Then Sam made some things that could help build things for hearing far away.  He unscrewed bolts, but it was hard when he had to get some bits onto wires. Sam had to concentrate.
What was an interesting idea someone shared with you?
Hannah shared that she could do background music.
William agreed that crossing over in the hoops was very tricky.
